A therapeutic Retreat, here at Brearley

The Timeout Foundation is a charitable organisation set up by chairman Janet Lumb many years ago.

The foundations accomplishments have been vast, but this new venture is exciting and absolutely needed!

The foundations next steps are very exciting ones which are linked to Brearley Hall. The long term plan is to develop a therapeutic retreat in the woodland here at Brearley in the 44 acre setting.

On the 2nd of September the foundation hosted an open day for the Brearley Hall school as well as the two residential homes within the grounds. The trustees the patron, teachers and also the Mayor of Halifax were among the people that attended.

It was a fantastic day enabling the foundation to show the attendees the school, the homes and its surroundings here at Brearley Hall and what exciting projects our in the pipeline and to discuss the new venture for the foundation.

The retreat will be open at weekends for ALL looked after children, not just those who live within Timeout.

The retreat will offer respite for carers, for an educational day or overnight stay at the wild campsite, reached only by foot. The ethos of the retreat is for children to have a safe place to experience wild camping, learn bush craft skills and den building. This will in turn build trust and develop the children's minds.

This development is ongoing and as we spring into 2022 the project will be put into fruition this year!!

I think we can all agree that here at Brearley Hall it is the perfect setting for such a set up! Exciting times ahead!!
